The Slate Belt region of Northeastern Pennsylvania has a heritage of men's chorus' dating to the late 19th century. This tradition has been continued since 1961 by the men of the Bangor Elks Men's Chorus.
Over the years, while the format and music have been updated from its original minstrel roots, the show maintains its reputation of providing wholesome family friendly entertainment in which music; comedy and dance are combined for the thousands who view the show each year.
